Album Description

Koniec - a cinematic journey by Konrad Ciesielski through sound, emotion and contemporary expression. Koniec is the solo album of Konrad Ciesielski, drummer and composer known from the formations Blindead, Octopussy or Tranquilizer, who this time sets out on a completely new sonic journey. It is music of cinematic dramaturgy and emotional weight, combining elements of ambient, experimental electronics, contemporary jazz and cinematic sound design. Konrad Ciesielski has been a recognizable figure on the Polish alternative scene for years. As a co-founder of Blindead, he co-created some of the most influential records of Polish post-metal, and his drumming style, precise, narrative and cinematic, became his signature. In the album “Koniec” Ciesielski goes beyond the framework of band playing. He builds a narrative based on space, repetition and emotion. His rhythm does not lead but breathes, and sound becomes meditation. The sounds of “Koniec” may be associated with projects such as GoGo Penguin, Portico Quartet, Hidden Orchestra or Massive Attack, that is, artists who in a unique way combine electronics with live instruments and space, creating emotional, cinematic soundscapes. A similar sensitivity can be found in the works of Immortal Onion, Nene Heroine, Nilsa Frahma czy Dead Can Dance, where the organic quality of sound and the reflective character of the music meet a modern approach to composition and production. The album features a wide range of guest artists who give each composition an individual character. In the opening “Out of Gravity” you can hear Jan Galbas, known from the cult Tricity (Gdańsk–Gdynia–Sopot, Poland) project Ampacity, as well as from his own work on the border of improvisation and contemporary experimental music. His piano becomes the emotional center of the composition, and his phrasing adds to the music an organic, almost cinematic dimension. In “Miscommunication Land” the vocals are performed by Gabriela Wasilewska, an artist connected with the Tricity performance scene. Her voice, balancing between spoken word and subtle singing, introduces a narrative about human distance and misunderstanding – motifs recurring throughout the album. In the track “Taganana” appears Dawid Lipka, a trumpeter known from the band Ńoko and regularly collaborating for example with Marcin Świetlicki and Tymon Tymański. His trumpet playing, full of breath and open space, takes the listener into the areas of contemporary improvised jazz and organic ambient. A special role is also played by Patrycja Tempska, a saxophonist active on the Tricity jazz and experimental scene. Her parts, recorded in the tracks “Out of Gravity” and “Kamdra”, build tension and movement, introducing a soft counterpoint to the electronic background. Although each of the compositions is an encounter with a different voice, a different instrument, a different emotion, the album retains its character, and the common denominator remains calmness, awareness of sound and cinematic sensitivity. For Mindses Music the album Koniec is another step in exploring the space of sound in which spirituality meets experiment, and introspection meets creative courage. It is also a testimony that contemporary music can be both emotional and reflective without falling into formalism. The premiere of the album Koniec LP will take place on November 5, 2025. The album will be released digitally on all major streaming platforms and in a limited collector’s physical edition.
