Francesca Remigi

Milan-based musician, Francesca Remigi is a multi-faceted drummer, an inquisitive improviser and a visionary composer from Bergamo, Italy. Nuova Generazione Jazz 2021 winner, Francesca is known for her international collaborations in the avant-garde and free improv jazz scene, with appearances at EFG London Jazz Festival 2020, Brussels Jazz Weekend 2019 and Una Striscia di Terra Feconda Jazz Festival (RO) in 2020. In Steve Lehman’s words “Francesca has had an uncompromising vision as both a performer and a composer. Her new recording “Il Labirinto Dei Topi” is one of the most exciting debut albums I’ve heard in recent memory.” Francesca’s band Archipélagos won the competition All You Have to do is Play 2019, launched by the label Emme Record Label. In January 2021, this Italian jazz label published Francesca’s first album as a leader Il Labirinto Dei Topi. Archipélagos was also one of the three finalists at the Maastricht Jazz Awards 2020.

Francesca is the winner of Nuova Generazione Jazz 2021, a competition launched by Italia Jazz and MIDJ associations in order to promote the new Italian jazz generation internationally. Over the years, Francesca has also participated in many different masterclasses and artistic residencies, such as Umbria Jazz 2012, Siena Jazz 2018, and she was selected for the jazz residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity (Canada – Alberta) in August 2019, directed by Vijay Yier and Tyshawn Sorey. In June 2020, she was chosen for another artistic residency at “La Casa del Jazz” (Roma) organized by MIDJ association (Musicisti Italiani di Jazz), in collaboration with SIAE and “Una Striscia di Terra Feconda Jazz Festival”.

She has performed with different bands in many festivals and venues all over Europe, such as the Cross Current Festival 2017 (Maastricht) and the North Sea Jazz Festival 2017 (Rotterdam), the Brussels Jazz Weekend 2019, the JAZZMI2019, Una Striscia di Terra Feconda Jazz Festival (RO) in 2020, Rassegna Montagnola Bologna (Festival della Balotta 2020), the EFG London Jazz Festival 2020,…

In addition to her regular collaborations with European-based projects such as the CiCommunity Project, the Subconscious Trio, Holly Blue, Almoraima, Dragon Tree, Tacones Altos, Francesca is leader of the bands Archipélagos and Soul’s Spring. She also had the chance to perform/record with famous international artists such as Andreas Polyzogopoulos, Camila Nebbia, Pepa Niebla, Claire Parsons, Julian Costello, Jen Shyu, Steve Lehman, Joachim Florent, Kris Davis, John Patitucci, Federico Calcagno, Anais Drago, Francesco Fiorenzani, Samuel Gapp and many others.
