Myles Boisen - John Raskin: Music + One

L'iniziativa di Myles Boisen e di John Raskin - noto come sassofonista baritono del ROVA - non può che trovare pieno consenso tra i colleghi che praticano l'improvvisazione totale. I due hanno chiesto ad alcuni musicisti della Bay Area di suonare dei brani da soli, per tre o quattro minuti, come se stessero interloquendo con la propria ombra. Successivamente, per provare cosa ne era venuto fuori, hanno invitato altri musicisti a suonare insieme alle tracce registrate, in situazioni di duo, trio o quartetto.

Le ventidue tracce registrate sono adesso presentate su un CD, un vero e proprio Play Along per improvvisatori che vogliono cimentarsi con questo tipo di musica. È un'iniziativa originale che forse trova una nicchia di mercato ed a cui va tutto il plauso possibile. Dopo i tanti dischi simili per musicisti bop finalmente ne arriva uno che vuol fare scuola anche nel genere creativo.
