Ravish Momin's Trio: Miren (A Longing)

Confesso di aver messo il CD nel lettore mosso da pre-giudizi (nel senso letterale del termine) contrastanti. Da un lato, la configurazione strumentale (percussioni, oud e violino) mi aveva fatto temere il peggio. Dall'altro, il fatto che l'album arivasse da una casa discografica come la Clean Feed, stimolava il mio interesse e le mie speranze.

L'ascolto ha dimostrato che, come sempre, è meglio tenere a bada i propri pregiudizi e sviluppare un'opinione solo a posteriori. Miren è infatti un album molto interessante che riesce a superare le limitazioni intrinseche di una formazione così ristretta e a risultare vario ed articolato. Questo grazie ad un sapiente uso dell'elettronica, ad un'esecuzione impeccabile, e soprattutto ad una varietà compositiva che spazia dal jazz contemporaneo ai traditional indiani.

Due punti di riferimento motlo distanti tra loro, a cui questo trio rimane tuttavia solidamente ancorato e che riesce, miracolosamente, a far coesistere in modo eccellente.
