About the Album
Saxophonist/composer Quinsin Nachoff is taking jazz and creative music into a brave new world of possibilities with “Patterns from Nature,” a new multimedia project he developed in conjunction with physicist Stephen Morris and four filmmakers. The piece explores how music, film, science and design can all be interconnected. The fourth track, “Ripples,” is an epic and dramatic composition that features powerful solos from both Nachoff and trombonist Ryan Keberle as well as dashing playing from pianist Matt Mitchell, clarinetist François Houle, percussionist Satoshi Takeishi, bassist Carlo De Rosa, and the Molinari String Quartet. With his unique blend of jazz, classical, improvisation, visual art, film, science, and nature, Nachoff is making visionary, transcendent music.
