About the Album
Hailed by The WholeNote Magazine as a pianist with a “natural feeling for swing and groove” and “scintillating technique,” Toronto-based pianist Anthony D'Alessandro has been steadily making his mark on the national and international jazz scenes. Following the release of his critically acclaimed 2024 debut album Searchin’, D’Alessandro has maintained a busy touring schedule across Canada, the United States, South America, and Europe. D’Alessandro is proud to announce the release of his sophomore recording City Lights, an original jazz album inspired by the many cities his music has brought him to. City Lights shines a light on the next generation of jazz stars. Alongside D’Alessandro, the album features trumpeter Summer Camargo, the youngest ever member of the famed Saturday Night Live band, as well as Canadian-born, New York City-based rising star tenor saxophonist Jacob Chung. D’Alessandro’s rhythm section is filled out with his long-time collaborators, bassist Jonathan Chapman and JUNO-winning drummer Ernesto Cervini. The album features vocal powerhouse Jennarie on Oversight, a ballad co-written with D’Alessandro. City Lights takes the form of a musical suite, featuring seven original compositions and two James P. Johnson’s stride piano pieces reimagined for piano trio. City Lights sees D’Alessandro taking the next step into the world of bandleading, with a cohesive, original jazz project that honours many elements of jazz history while telling a musical story all its own. City Lights was released on Friday, October 24th 2025.
