Tassilo Dellers Jazz Quartet: Love

Tassilo Dellers è un sassofonista svizzero ed un artista abbastanza eclettico che non ha problemi a cambiare gruppi e generi per esprimersi. Love, eseguito in quartetto accompagnato da una classica ritmica con piano, contrabbasso e batteria è il suo secondo lavoro con questi musicisti, con l'eccezione di Florian Abt, il nuovo contrabbassista, che ha sostituito Sam McPleenart, allo strumento sul precedente See You.

Love è senza dubbio un disco che sa farsi ascoltare sia per le pregevoli improvvisazioni che le citazioni, sempre al punto giusto, dei colleghi più famosi. "Love" ad esempio è un brano coltraniano, o "Voodoo Miles" un'evidente omaggio al grande trombettista, realizzato interamente con strumenti acustici.

Il leader ha trovato una sua strada per quanto riguarda il mainstream (che è solo una parte della sua capacità di espressione) sviluppando una tecnica pregevole ed un fraseggio pacato, che a volte si impenna in inquietudini di stampo quasi free, che danno un cambio di marcia alle esecuzioni. Così facendo riesce sempre ad immettere il guizzo, la soluzione insolita, la melodia che non ti aspetti, che rendono il tutto stimolante, gradevole, spingendo i suoi colleghi a fare altrettanto, a non navigare nelle comode acque della routine.
