In realtà, chi siano i Pacific UV non è facile dirlo. Anche perché a loro piace un po’ scherzare o fare pasticci. Come quando intitolarono il bruciante esordio (Longplay 1) salvo poi rinominarlo come omonimo. O come quando presero in giro tutti affermando che si sarebbero aggiunti alla band due nuovi musicisti svedesi, Sven e Piotr, salvo poi chiamarli con nuovi nomi, Jorge Torres e Shane Davis, perché suonavano più americani.
Della formazione originaria è rimasto un tal Clay Jordan che con altri tre musicisti forma il nucleo attuale dei canadesi. Scherzi a parte, il secondo CD (non casualmente chiamato Longplay 2) si distingue, non solo per le citazioni musicali, ma per la sua portata “aerodinamica” e spaziale, i riverberi e i feedback da contorno, le rapide distorsioni e le dolci ascese (“Need”, “Tremolo”, “If So”). Speriamo solo che non sia tutto un altro scherzo.
