Ibrido Hot Six: L'Eclisse - Musiche Invisibili per 6 Esecutori e 11 Strumenti
Coerentemente con le premesse, il repertorio è vario e si muove intorno a tre punti fondamentali. Le composizioni originali (tutte a firma di Apuzzo), i maestri degli anni '60 (Mingus, Dolphy, Coltrane, Coleman), ed i Gentle Giant (sì, proprio il gruppo inglese di rock progressive dei fratelli Shulman). Filo conduttore il gusto per una scrittura articolata, che consente un accurato lavoro di arrangiamento, più vicino al fare musica euro- colto che al jazz. Marginale invece l'improvvisazione, presente ma con un ruolo un po' defilato. E qui, in qualche modo, si avverte un eccesso di razionalizzazione, di mancanza di fisicità che lascia l'ascoltatore in attesa di qualcosa che invece non arriva. E' il gioco dell'eclisse, "momento particolare in cui tutto è sospeso", si legge nelle note di copertina.
Un album ibrido negli intenti, ed anche negli esiti.
