Francesco Cusa è uno di quei musicisti dai quali sai già cosa aspettarti, per la storia personale e artistica. Gli è sufficiente sedersi dietro i tamburi e le pelli per scolpire una materia sonora che rifugge da ogni esotismo. La sua è musica seria ma non seriosa, condita da un tocco di (folle?) ironia e divertissement. Già il titolo del lavoro (pensato a quattro mani con il pianista Marcello Di Lorenzo che sembra essere in perfetta simbiosi con il batterista) suscita ilarità: ve l'immaginate questo "agguerrito" duo che magari si presenta a un concorso musicale e che nel bel mezzo di un Notturno di Chopin ci piazza Cecil Taylor?

Sul piano musicale i due paiono ricercare l' origine stessa del suono. Quasi un moto ondulatorio che i due protagonisti sanno controllare perfettamente, traendone effetti indiscutibilmente musicali, scomponendo con tagli possenti e presentando una serie di figure curve dalle geometrie calibrate e dai colori cangianti.

Tra sciabordii di piatti, vortici pianistici a là Taylor e cavalcate modali, la musica si mantiene costantemente sul filo del grottesco senza farsene inghottire. Non rinuncia ad attacchi frontali verso un certo star system (si ascolti la traccia 6).
