EsaTrio: Kenbillou
E Kenbillou ne rappresenta appieno l'estetica musicale in perenne equilibrio, spesso instabile, tra forma e libertà, tra stilemi bop e furori free, tra echi di musica colta e derive radicali. Si passa così dalla cavalcata coltraniana di "Back to Congo Square One, Pt. 2" con la voce sgranata, scura e lancinante del tenore di Gagliardi in bella evidenza, alla riflessiva "Written in Water" sinuosa nel suo incedere grazie alla pulsazione elastica della sezione ritmica, dalla libera improvvisazione quasi selvaggia di "SSCMFOIKA" alle splendide, intense, melanconiche linee di basso di "Narrows".
Kenbillou si rivela quindi il solito, solido, disco di casa CIMP, con tre protagonisti della musica creativa in piena sintonia, ma manca di quella progettualità e di quei guizzi che trasformano un buon disco in un avventura emozionante.
