La comunicazione ai massimi livelli. Hank, che farà i 90 quest’anno, suona ancor benissimo.
02. Richard Galliano - L'hymne à l'amour (Camjazz - 2007).
Il mio amico Richard, un vero maestro, in compagnia di Gary Burton, suona della bellissima musica. Clarence Penn alla batteria è sorprendente.
03. Lee Morgan - Search for the New Land (Blue Note - 1964).
Classica seduta di registrazione con Shorter e Hancock e grandi composizioni di Lee. Esecuzioni meravigliose esaltate dal suono di Rudy van Gelder.
04. Martial Solal - Solitude (Camjazz - 2007).
Solal in solitario alle prese con degli standards. E’ la situazione nella quale lo prediligo. Grande incisione.
05. Carla Bley - Lost Chord find Paolo Fresu (Watt - 2007).
Paolo dovrebbe essere considerato uno dei più grandi trombettisti nella storia del jazz. Questo disco è pieno di cose meravigliose.
06. Duke Ellington - Blues in Orbit (Columbia - 1960).
C’è sempre da imparare qualcosa ad ascoltare Duke. Jazz che non passerà mai di moda.
07. Håkan Hardenberger and Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra (Deutsche Grammofon - 2006).
Musica moderna composta da Turnage, Gruber, etc, eseguita con grande padronanza e scioltezza. Un trombettista che può suonare musica classica da Handel ai giorni nostri.
08. Paul Bley - Live in Mondsee (ECM - 2007).
Bley ha il coraggio di suonare cose strane, cose che poi saranno di ispirazione per altri. Come Ornette, spinge la musica verso nuovi orizzonti.
09. Oscar Peterson - Night Train (Verve - 1962).
Il trio di Oscar al top. L’interplay in questo disco è clamoroso.
10. Jan Johansson - Jazz på Svenska (Heptagon - 1961).
Pianista svedese morto in un incidente stradale nel 1968. Registrò numerosi dischi affascinanti, questo divenne il suo hit. Vecchie canzoni della tradizione rivisitate e ancora molto amate dagli svedesi.
