Horatiu Radulescu: Intimate Rituals
Ora: la musica di queste quattro composizioni per viola, si colloca approssimativamente nel solco dell’opera succitata. Gli ingredienti sono un suono aspro, sempre stridente, sempre tirato allo spasimo, che inciampa in continuazione su slittamenti microtonali e si arrampica su irte traiettorie per archi, spesso trasfigurati in un ronzio affilatissimo.
La differenza sta nelle dimensioni contenute dell’ensemble (ridotto ai soli Gerard Causse e Vincent Royer, con saltuari interventi di Petra Junken e dello stesso Radulescu al “sound icon”, sorta di pianoforte modificato), che alleggeriscono la massa sonora e contribuiscono a una comunicatività che comunque resta urticante come da copione, nonché cerebrale per definizione.
Tra sfrigolii di viola, acuti lancinanti, microimprovvisazioni “spettarli”, saliscendi dissonanti, Intimate Rituals è uno strazio di contorcimenti rumorosi e austeri, ma coi suoi momenti di fascino. Come nel caso della composizione che dà il titolo al CD: una scarica di armonici in libera uscita, dall’incedere barbaro e al tempo stesso austero, che più volte sembra citare - addirittura! - sia Harry Partch che certa drone music per overtones. Il momento più alto di un lavoro che, quantomeno, ammalia.
