Judi Silvano: Indigo Moods

Conosciamo da tempo le capacità vocali di Judi Silvano, collaudate in una miriade di contesti a riprova della sua versatilità. Nonostante ciò questo suo disco - che la vede all'opera in un contesto minimalista, insieme al pianista Peter Tomlinson che offre il contesto armonico nel quale poi il trombettista Fred Jacobs colora con poche ed espressive note i versi degli standards - non manca di sorprenderci.

In scaletta troviamo brani molto famosi, e proprio per questo così difficili da riproporre, specie in una situazione in cui la cantante è al centro dell'attenzione e c'è poco o niente dietro cui nascondersi. Lei, come al solito, è presente con la sua grande voce, l'interpretazione emozionante, la pronuncia perfetta, il senso del ritmo, lo swing, tutto quello insomma, che fa di una cantante una grande cantante.

Per un motivo o per l'altro, ogni brano ha una storia speciale alle spalle, su cui la Silvano stende la propria interpretazione come se fosse quella definitiva, tanto che quando la si ascolta si dimentica che è anche esistito un passato rimanendo completamente ancorati al presente e al futuro di questi standards.
