Giovanni Guidi: Indian Summer
Fin dall’iniziale “Shadow“, con il climax alimentato gradualmente da un sinuoso clarinetto, Guidi mette le carte in tavola: la scrittura, elemento fondamentale della sua estetica, viene docilmente piegata all’estro dell’improvvisazione, con sviluppi spesso inaspettati, attraverso un linguaggio essenziale ed articolato nello stesso tempo. Si ascolti “Il Campione“, brano racchiuso tra un incipit ed un finale dai sapori vagamente felliniani ma dal corpo centrale aperto a dissonanze e a fraseggi arditi.
Poi nelle tracce successive, soprattutto quelle eseguite in trio, Guidi disvela la natura più intima e raccolta della propria musica, e, a sorpresa, anche la più visionaria. Lo fa in punta di piedi, quasi sussurrando, compresa “Round Trip“, unico non originale del disco, poco più di due minuti, esemplari nella loro rarefatta concitazione. Con spazio anche per atmosfere evocanti le fredde lande del Nord e misurate incursioni in campi maggiormente aperti alla libera improvvisazione, affrontati sempre con grande profondità espressiva.
Opera seconda di sorprendente maturità.
