Maria Monti: Il bestiario
È Il bestiario di Maria Monti, anno di grazia 1974, esempio fulgido di canzone/cabaret/sperimentale, di quel cantautorato artsy che univa politica e satira sociale, teatro e musica. I testi del disco, surreali, sono del discusso poeta Aldo Braibanti, gli arrangiamenti del grande Alvin Curran [qui nei suoi anni romani di Musica Elettronica Viva] con il contributo di Steve Lacy al sax soprano.
Cantante, autrice, ma anche attrice conosciuta e di talento [ha recitato con Leone e Bertolucci], la Monti si è formata nei cabaret milanesi e ha ottenuto notorietà accanto all'allora compagno Giorgio Gaber, ma al coté popular ha associato progressivamente frequentazioni più d'avanguardia [la collaborazione con Carmelo Bene e Sylvano Bussotti, ad esempio] e un continuo intreccio con le vicende cantautorati degli anni Settanta.
Il disco è certamente bizzarro, ma la Monti canta molto bene e il rapporto tra melodie sognanti, testi visionari e interventi sonici stranianti diventa presto molto affascinante anche per un ascoltatore di quasi quarant'anni più tardi.
Un piccolo gioiello da riscoprire.
