Sonny Rollins: Holding The Stage: Road Shows, Vol. 4
Senza voler entrare nel merito di una cifra artistica ampiamente storicizzata, se ne apprezza ancora la sublime capacità di moltiplicare le svariate spigolature ritmiche, armoniche e melodiche degli standard soggetti a profonda scomposizione. Come al solito, è Sonny Rollins l'unico e solo protagonista a dominare incontrastato il dionisiaco flusso musicale. Sebbene dotati di uno spessore e di una scuola di alta classe, i compagni di viaggio si alternano come devote ancelle per officiare un rito sacro da ossequiare con discrezione.
Ed è davvero difficile sottrarsi per l'ennesima volta al calypso danzante e ipnotico di "Don't Stop the Carnival," che chiude come meglio non si poteva il CD.
