Come si può facilmente intuire dal titolo, la musica di questo album trae origine dalle monodie del repertorio gregoriano, che Simone Bosco sviluppa contrappuntisticamente dando vita a brani molto interessanti, sia per le bellezza delle melodie utilizzate che per la particolare configurazione strumentale del quartetto (sax, trombone e contrabbasso).

Una musica forse non originalissima in termini assoluti, ma che in Italia non ha né riferimenti né precedenti. Chi ha consuetudine con un certo tipo di jazz francese, troverà delle affinità con il lavoro di Sylvain Kassap, di Hubert Dupont, forse addirittura del Workshop de Lyon.

Cambiando orizzonte geografico, altri punti di contatto possono essere rintracciati in Dave Holland, in particolare in quelle risoluzioni armonico-timbriche che mettono il trombone in bella evidenza. Tutti nomi importanti, che ci sentiamo di utilizzare perchè la musica di questo album è davvero bella, e la consigliamo caldamente.
