Lusi - Masciari Quartet: Gotha 17

Da Roma arriva questo CD che sa di aria fresca per il jazz nazionale, fatto da due giovani musicisti che di recente hanno avuto modo di suonare per gli Stati Uniti accumulando esperienze importanti nell'ambito bop/mainstream. Lo si avverte subito nei temi, che si isipirano ai maestri americani, alla voglia di sentirsi alla pari con i colleghi d'oltreoceano (bello l'assolo di Luigi Masciari in "Ramla Bay"), nell'esuberanza con cui affrontano i brani dall'inizio alla fine del disco.

A fare da ospite ci sono qua e là altri due nomi attivi nella capitale: Pino Iodice al pianoforte ed il trombettista Aldo Bassi, autore di ispirati assoli. Ed è proprio l'ispirazione la cosa migliore di questo disco, la vivacità e la freschezza con cui si riesce a ravvivare una tradizione che - forse perché fatta da chi non è da tanto sulle scene musicali - acquista quasi una patina di novità. Anche le ballad hanno spazio (l'appassionata "Siamo spiacenti") così che il gruppo si conferma forte in tutte le gamme espressive, dai tempi veloci a quelli lenti, senza perdite di concentrazione in un discorso che merita di essere ripreso, mercato e festival permettendo.
