Irene Schweizer: First Choice. Piano Solo KKL Luzern
In solitaria, alla maniera di Keith Jarrett (da cui del resto l'estetica della Schweizer non è troppo distante), la pianista ha aperto la serata con una lunga improvvisazione che si apre su incespicanti frammenti per chiudersi su una danza dai vari sapori africani, ricca di echi tyneriani. L'album prosegue poi tra esplorazioni strumentali, deliziose ballate, omaggi a grandi del passato (Thelonious Monk e Don Cherry)
La Schweizer si muove senza rete, ma ha sempre molto chiara la direzione della sua improvvisazione che approda sovente, dopo mille peripezie, a composizioni consolidate. Ed anche se oggi il suo pianismo appare ancorato ad un'epoca ben precisa, la si ascolta sempre con estremo piacere.
