Influenzato tramite George Garzone dall'estetica coltraniana, il giovane sassofonista Gian Tornatore suona, compone, ed arrangia con buona competenza del modello affrontato. Esecuzioni impeccabili, vibrante approccio ad un jazz di grande tensione collettiva, incisivo accompagnamento dei compagni di viaggio.

Terzo CD da leader per Tornatore, che non riesce tuttavia a far decollare del tutto questo progetto di sintesi, sebbene infiorato da pregevoli assoli. È una musica sin troppo radicata nella tradizione moderna del jazz e non basta l'aggiunta della chitarra a rivitalizzare la pratica coltraniana, ossequiata nelle composizioni originali del leader, che guarda anche alla migliore vena compositiva di Pat Metheny. Piace il sound collettivo del suo quintetto, che benché impeccabile, trasmette l'immarcescibile carica artistica di Coltrane. Un linguaggio appena rinvigorito dalle linee melodiche e ritmiche dell'odierno jazz metropolitano.
