Chicago-based bassist and band leader Ethan Philion pays tribute to the iconic Charles Mingus with his new recording Meditations on Mingus. In this episode of LINER NOTES, PhilionPhilion discusses the care with which he approached the musical canon of the iconic Mingus while simultaneously endeavoring to highlight the social justice themes of the music which are as relevant today as they were fifty years ago when the music was composed.
