Anthony Pateras: Errors of the Human Body

Conosciutisi a Melbourne nei primi anni Duemila, il regista Eron Sheean e il musicista Anthony Pateras [pianista e compositore il cui talento va di pari passo con l'ampiezza delle collaborazioni, che spaziano dall'ambito classico/contemporaneo all'improvvisazione, passando per il fantastico duo Pivixki] hanno collaborato dapprima per alcuni cortometraggi, per approdare ora, con Errors of the Human Body, al lungometraggio.

Thriller di ambientazione scientifica, girato all'istituto Max Planck di Dresda, tra dramma personale e sperimentazione genetica, il film offre a Pateras un ampio spettro compositivo, utilizzando sia strumenti acustici che elettronici, oltre alle ottime percussioni degli Speak Percussion.

Tutti gli elementi "classici" della musica da thriller, timbriche inquietanti, lunghe sospensioni, textures claustrofobiche, vengono maneggiati da Pateras con grande abilità, ma c'è anche spazio per piccole ossessioni dance [nella traccia "XIJ"], agghiaccianti ninnananne, borbottanti invettive glitch e spiazzanti architetture elettroacustiche.

Non abbiamo avuto il piacere di vedere il film, ma la musica è indubbiamente interessante, confermando da un lato la statura artistica e la versatilità di Pateras, dall'altro ponendosi come oggetto sonoro intrigante anche senza il supporto delle immagini. Da ascoltare!
