Jackie O Motherfucker: Earth Sound System

"In the Willows," "Bring It to Me e "Dedication," sono musica immersa nella sonnolenza, nella fase che precede l'inizio di un sogno o nella fase del risveglio. Tre canzoni dalle macerie dei Velvet Underground, composte con soli tre/quattro accordi di chitarra, avvolte per fortuna in un "sistema sonoro" più ampio con le ballate elettriche di "Raga Separating" e "Raga Joining," due brani che hanno l'aspetto esteriore di canzoni "scartate" in studio, sui quali l'intervento del mixer e la magia elettronica dei processori hanno agito masticando, processando e rigurgitando nuovamente il suono. Due brani che contengono momenti senz'altro di sperimentazione sensoriale più che acustica.

In un alternarsi di fiati "invisibili," dondolii elettronici, drum machine, assenza di un tempo definito, "Raga Joining" dura sette minuti circa e rappresenta la quasi totale assenza della forma musicale, la quasi assenza della musica rock, la comparsa in alternanza di suoni, ritmi, passi, cadute, l'intermittente vita acustica di due mondi, l'Africa e l'Asia, nella prospettiva dell'ascoltatore-viaggiatore occidentale.

Chiude Earth Sound System la sporcizia acustica di "Where We Go," rock con basso fuzz, grande rilievo al fruscio della registrazione, come se questo brano fosse passato di mano in mano e ricopiato su nastro centinaia di volte.

Jackie O Motherfucker da tempo non è più una band vera e propria, ma solamente lo pseudonimo dietro a cui si celano le creazioni sfaccettate e multicolori ma al tempo stesso di grande semplicità di Tom Greenwood.
