Chick Corea - Hiromi Uehara: Duet
Il repertorio è costituito da standards del jazz e del pop e composizioni originali che rappresentano un buon punto di incontro per le sensibilità dei due musicisti coinvolti.
Si parte con una crepuscolare "Very Early", un brano che è associato in maniera indelebile al suo autore, il pianista Bill Evans. Si prosegue con la brasilianeggiante "How Insensitive" scritta invece da Tom Jobim e via via si toccano una briosa "The Fool on the Hill" di Lennon e McCartney, la sempre deliziosa "Bolivar Blues" di Monk e altri temi.
La chiusura è affidata ad una lunga escursione spagnoleggiante che mette assieme il "Concerto di Aranjuez" di Joaquim Rodrigo con la speziata "Spain" scritta da Chick Corea negli anni settanta.
Hiromi ha una facilità di fraseggio impressionante, con un tocco impeccabile e un approccio a volte un po' ridondante. Chick Corea è più sornione e lascia spesso le frasi più rutilanti alla giovane compagna di palcoscenico. L'unione sembra funzionare abbastanza bene, nel segno dello yin e dello yang. Arigatò.
