Salvatore Bonafede: Dream and Dreams

Metti il CD nel lettore, e ti ritrovi subito ad ascoltare una melodia rotonda, fluida, esatta. Di quelle che potrebbe aver scritto Keith Jarrett nei suoi momenti di grazia. Del resto, Bonafede non ha mai fatto mistero dei suoi gusti e Jarrett, insieme a Paul Bley, è sicuramente uno dei suoi musicisti preferiti. Per via di quella "vena sognante, sensibile, contemplativa, molto “rubata”".

L'album prende poi una via più classicamente (seppur sommessamente) jazz. Ma ecco spuntare echi di un altro grande scrittore di melodie: John Taylor. Bonafede gli dedica una traccia che si muove su quelle sequenze accordali tipiche del pianista inglese. E poche note, suoni lunghi, che rimangono sospesi. Sognanti e contemplativi, come la vena di cui sopra.

Un album tutto giocato sui mezzi tempi e con grande prevalenza del registro medio, nel quale ammiriamo la maestria compositiva ed esecutiva di Bonafede, ma dal quale, ci sembra, manca un pizzico di grinta e di cuore. Manca, insomma, quel calore mediterraneo che Bonafede, musicista siciliano, dovrebbe conoscere molto bene e portare sempre con sé.
