Daunik Lazro - Jean-Francois Pauvros - Roger Turner: Curare

Questo bel trio è composto da due francesi (il saxofonista Daunik Lazro e il chitarrista Jean-Francois Pauvros) e dall'inglese Roger Turner, batterista raffinato e preciso che ricordiamo alla corte di Annette Peacock tra la fine degli anni ottanta e l'inizio degli anni novanta. I quattro brani che compongono Curare sono stati registrati dal vivo in due occasioni: la prima a Montreuil nel novembre del 2008, la seconda a Besancon a fine giugno del 2010. Sono lunghe escursioni nei territori dell'avanguardia, con chiare reminiscenze di linguaggio che sottolineano la matrice jazzistica dei tre protagonisti.

Il suono è spesso intermittente e puntillista, con grande attenzione per il ruolo che il silenzio ricopre nei territori dell'improvvisazione più radicale. È una sorta di silenzio cageano, cioè un silenzio in realtà non esistente, visto che si ciba del rumore circostante che a sua volta non è altro che una estensione della musica o, per lo meno, del suono. Non manca una componente lirica che si esplicita in particolare nell'ultimo brano, una sorta di viaggio dal buio alla luce, una cavalcata solenne che chiude in maniera appassionata questo album dando spazio alla vena declamatoria di Daunik Lazro, ben sostenuto dalle esclamazioni argute della chitarra incandescente di Jean-Francois Pauvros e dall'incitamento ritmico della batteria di Roger Turner.
