Rispetto alla penultima esperienza discografica, Levitation (con Thomasz Stanko e Billy Hart), il nuovo CD del chitarrista Mark O'Leary annovera partner diversi: Uri Caine al pianoforte e Ben Perowsky alla batteria.

Immutati rimangono il clima espressivo nonche' il livello di creativita' di questa incisione, anch'essa pervasa dalle medesime strategie organizzative. L'essenzialita' di un linguaggio aforistico, tutto racchiuso in brevi bozzetti, e' ancora una volta la strada condivisa dai due compagni per intraprendere un viaggio affascinante, in cui negli sviluppi solistici convince di piu' il pianista che il chitarrista .

Caine e Perowsky garantiscono - come e' noto - quella apertura mentale che si rivela fondamentale nella libera esplorazione di composizioni istantanee, in cui l'imprevedibilita' diviene il comune denominatore. La finalita' principale del trio e' anche quella di costruire un percorso fantasioso e privo di banalita', che paga qualche tributo nell'architettura armonica a seminali esperienze pianistiche degli anni '60.

A cominciare da "Closure", percepibile e' il rimando alle progressioni verticali magmatiche di Paul Bley, con cui il chitarrista ha proficuamente collaborato nel piu' recente passato.
