Può apparire incredibile, ma ci sono ancora gruppi che suonano fusion. Quella vera, quella attraverso cui sono passati praticamente tutti i jazzofili quarantenni oggi in circolazione. Musica propedeutica, non certo un punto di approdo, ma quasi un obbligato punto di transito tra il rock e il jazz. Oggi i confini tra generi, grazie anche alle esperienze fusion di allora, sono diventati più labili. E proprio per questo, la fusion in senso stretto ha perso la sua ragion d'essere.

Appare quindi, come dicevo in apertura, incredibile che ci sia ancora chi si cimenta con questa musica. Ma il genere ha comunque un suo pubblico e quello dei Minority Report è anche piuttosto numeroso.

Le composizioni sono ben scritte e naturalmente molto ben suonate. E, diversamente dalla gran parte della fusion, si tratta di brani non tanto inclini al fresh-jazz, quanto ad un certo romanticismo di estrazione cinematografica. Qua e là, una leggera spruzzata funk o R&B. Senza schiacciare mai troppo sull'acceleratore. Le atmosfere sono sempre, volutamente, molto rilassate.
