Evan Parker & Kinetics: Chiasm
Evan Parker si produce unicamente al tenore, cosa che del resto gli capita di frequente, in tempi recenti, e la sua incidenza sul totale, anche per la particolare tipologia del suo deambulare sassofonistico, è massiccia, a partire dal primo brano, che da solo copre quasi la metà del tempo complessivo del disco, risultandone di fatto una sorta di ideale summa e paradigma.
I tre restanti episodi, di durata medio-breve, riconfermano il postulato di partenza, un'improvvisazione quartettistica con forte senso della forma e della struttura, anche se il conclusivo "London Part II" (singolare il fatto che le due impro londinesi incornicino quelle danesi, anziché precederle o seguirle, elemento che non fa che ribadire la spiccata intenzionalità e vocazione architettonica del lavoro) ha un andamento un po' diverso (e di fatto meno convincente), aprendosi col solo tenore, sul cui procedere circolare s'insinuano poco alla volta, come una sorta di nube (o soffio) montante, il piano sul registro grave e, forse, il contrabbasso (l'insieme, come detto, è appena avvertibile), finché, a un paio di minuti dall'epilogo, il trio rimane solo, sfumando lentamente verso il silenzio.
Disco di sicuro spessore che non mancherà di incontrare il gusto dei cultori parkeriani e dell'universo improvvisativo in senso lato.
