Camila Nebbia, Nick Fraser Trio & Bruno Bode

The spotlight's on Argentinean saxophonist Camila Nebbia and her increasing recognition as one of the finest improvising saxophonists out there today. Her newest album is Noche Y Niebla, recorded with fellow Argentinean reedist Luis Nacht. Their contrasting styles are perfectly matched. Meanwhile her star grows with a pair of nominations for a German Jazz Prize, since she's now living in Berlin—in the woodwind category and best album for A Reflection Distorts Over Water, a terrific album with Marilyn Crispell and Lesley Mok, plus she's earned kudos for the fairly recent Exhaust with Kit Downes and Andrew Lisle. Toronto drummer Nick Fraser has reunited his trio with Tony Malaby on reeds and Kris Davis on piano for Areas. Loft Jazz veteran reed player Alan Braufman's newest is forthcoming and there's a preview of that, plus debuts from German saxophonist Bruno Bode, Australian guitarist Hilary Geddes, and electric bassist Arnold Ludwig, leading a great band at Maggie's Café in the Faroes Islands.
