Le nove composizioni di questo Bright Light in Winter sono tutte originali e vedono Jeff Parker impegnato assieme ai fidi Chris Lopes e Chad Taylor, rispettivamente al basso e alla batteria. Lopes suona anche il flauto, aggiungendo un ulteriore colore a questa musica semplice e intrigante al tempo stesso. Ogni brano è un delicato esercizio di scrittura innervato da quel senso di improvvisazione che da sempre caratterizza le scelte strutturali di Jeff Parker, uno dei musicisti più interessanti della attuale configurazione della AACM di Chicago.
In questo album non avvertiamo forzature di sorta e Jeff Parker si conferma musicista eclettico e mai banale, chitarrista raffinato e gentile, mai abrasivo, mai urticante, ma allo stesso tempo autorevole e capace di individuare prima degli altri i percorsi migliori. Lasciamolo scorrere per l'eternità.
