Boys Mature Slow è il nuovo album di Senri Oe. Il titolo del disco è piuttosto significativo. Oe è difatti un affermatissima star della musica pop giapponese, con quasi 20 dischi e decine di singoli sia a suo nome che come autore di successo per artisti del J-Pop. Dopo numerosi dischi d'oro, arrivato a 47 anni, ha deciso di trasferirsi a New York e perseguire il suo sogno jazzistico.

In questo suo debutto jazzistico, Oe, propone 10 brani inediti in cui si avvale del contributo di alcuni tra i più validi session-men della scena jazz newyorchese. Insieme danno vita ad un disco variegato in cui si passa da pezzi up-tempo come "Tommy Who Knew Too Much" alle atmosfere latin di "The Murder in Vineyards," da momenti morbidi come "Camp Sweetheart" e "Apology Blanket" ad "Highline Bash" in cui il musicista giapponese interagisce coi fiati in maniera vivace.

In definitiva Oe riesce a creare un'atmosfera solare e mai sottotono mostrandosi sempre coerente alla propria formula stilistica. Il lavoro si rivela dinamico, genuino e ben messo a fuoco, adatto a soddisfare i palati più esigenti oltre che i fan di Oe.
