Biyouna: Blonde Dans la Casbah

Byouna è un’artista tuttofare. Un passato come ballerina, poi cantante in miriadi di gruppi locali algerini, sceneggiatrice di show televisivi ed infine attrice affermata quanto ad Algeri tanto in Francia (è stata la protagonista di “Viva l’Aldjérie”, del regista, compagno di vita, Nadir Moknèche).

Non nuova a esperienze discografiche (l’esordio risale al 2001 con il CD Raid Zone) l’artista algerina ci riprova con Blonde Dans la Casbah.

Il repertorio scelto spazia nella tradizione francese e algerina. Dall’iniziale “Taali”, passando per la deliziosa “El ghafel” (scritta da Djamel Laroussi), “El barah” (canzone tributo a uno dei maggiori artisti algerini El Hachemi Guerouabi) fino al traditional (“Tsaabli ouetmili”) ovvero il primo country chaabi (uno stile di pop urbano algerino) mai registrato.

Un po’ crooner nella voce un po’ vissuta nell’atteggiamento, Byouna a suo modo interpreta un CD brillante ed evocativo. L’accompagnano in questo viaggio nei ricordi (l’album è intitolato alla memoria della madre dell’artista scomparsa all’età di 84 anni) Didier Wampass (“Merci pour tout”), Malia (“Bismilah”) e Chrisophe (La man).

A metà strada tra Marianne Faithfull e Edith Piaf.
