Nick Millevoi: Black Figure of a Bird

La chitarra elettrica a 12 corde può diventare un arma pericolosa in mani sbagliate. Ma il chitarrista americano Nick Millevoi dimostra di saperla utilizzare bene in queste sei escursioni in territorio free che si caratterizzano per un approccio ben strutturato e consapevole della parte ritmica. Non mancano aree dove i pendii si fanno più scivolosi ed allora è giusto lasciarsi andare con il flusso inarrestabile della musica, lasciandosi le rocce nere alle spalle.

I sei brani, tutti originals di Millevoi, sono affrontati in perfetta solitudine, senza mai perdere di vista il senso ritmico complessivo. Ci sono reminiscenze dei ritmi più frenetici e cadenzati dei King Crimson più maturi, ma è solo un'eco misteriosa che non trova riscontri ulteriori. Non c'è alcun timore di battere le aree del rumore e lo sfrigolio quasi da 'drone' delle corde più sottili aiutano ad ottenere questa sensazione.
