Vincent Courtois - Sylvie Courvoisier - Ellery Eskelin: As Soon as Possible
In effetti il tentativo di coniugare la musica euro-colta con la creatività jazzistica sembra essere uno dei tratti distintivi di questo lavoro del tutto improvvisato.
I due punti di partenza dell'incontro sono la voce di Eskelin, il cui fraseggio talvolta (nell'arcano solo della seconda traccia) è apparentabile addirittura a Liebman, e il vigore post-epressionista della Courvasier,che si conferma interprete assimilabile alla contemporaneità novecentesca.
Un abbraccio che in "Sotto Voce," "Obviuous Obtuse" e "Nocturne" vede l'ineffabile andamento sassofonistico dell'inconfondibile Eskelin innestarsi e stagliarsi con un suono ora corposo e tagliente ora sommesso, lineare e sussurrato sul dialogo reticolare, spezzato e difforme in atto tra violoncello e pianoforte.
Un intervento, quello di Eskelin che talvolta conduce ad una triangolazione polifonica accesa, in altri casi sembra invece rispettare un climax sommesso e respirato, propriamente cameristico, come succede in "Antiphons".
Tra i pezzi più notevoli segnaliamo la decomposizione jazzistica di "Lexington Market," la dimensione spaziale di "la Fontaine de Mars" con degli effetti elettronici di Cortois in bella vista, e "All'improviste," con l'evidente contrasto delle tre voci a definire la cifra e la dinamica del brano.
