Andrea Lombardini Trio: ALT 88

In ALT 88 troviamo il trio capitanato dal bassista elettrico Andrea Lombardini - lodato da Steve Swallow nelle note di copertina - che, con due colleghi americani, suona una musica che spazia da temi monkiani ad altri legati ad un mainstream elegante e raffinato o - quando Leo Genovese è al sintetizzatore - ad un jazz elettrico crossover. Alla fine, più che le doti compositive del leader, vengono fuori le notevoli capacità strumentali dei tre, molto abili a gestire ogni singolo brano. Il risultato però non è un album di coerenza formale, vista l'eccessiva distanza tra le atmosfere dei vari brani.

Con le scuole di jazz che ormai forniscono una solida base a chi vuole dedicarsi all'improvvisazione capita spesso di trovare giovani musicisti che, imparato tutto, decidono di dar fondo alle proprie conoscenze senza tuttavia trovare una strada personale. Almeno per il momento. Resta comunque indiscutibile l'abilità strumentale del trio e la possibilità per l'ascoltatore di gestire l'album attraverso il telecomando del CD player, ascoltando, a seconda dell'umore, la parte più acustica o quella piu "crossover".
