Atlante Sonoro: Alhambra

Due anni dopo Duende, ecco il nuovo disco del quartetto Atlante Sonoro di Gabriele Coen, stavolta con la presenza in alcune tracce del chitarrista Lutte Berg.

Così come Duende, anche Alhambra segue la traccia eclettica del gruppo, che include suggestioni sonore disparate, con una presenza - ora latente, ora esplicita - di tematiche ebraiche, esplorate a più riprese da Coen.

Il gruppo è molto coeso e concentrato sulla realizzazione di un lavoro collettivo, sul quale spiccano con evidenza solo le ance. Coen mostra anche personalmente un forte eclettismo: diverse sono le sue forme espressive al mutare dello strumento, che si evidenziano in particolare al soprano, ove sembra predominare la lezione di Wayne Shorter (evocato giusto al centro dell’album con “Ana Maria”, ma citato perfino nelle sonorità già in “Lake Song”), pur con forti riferimenti a Coltrane (si ascolti ad esempio “Belz”, nel quale anche il piano di Pietro Lussu richiama McCoy Tyner). Il tutto però viene inserito in un contesto ove la melodia e il canto narrativo hanno un ruoli inalienabili: “Auteyrac”, di Marco Loddo, la descrittiva “Roma ad agosto”, di Coen, e la malinconica "Serenata a Maria", vanno infatti in direzioni diverse, pur mantenendosi coerenti con la cifra generale del lavoro, che in tal modo risulta fortemente personale.

Pur dediti alla causa comune, e Lussu, Loddo e il batterista Luca Caponi svolgono eccellentemente il loro ruolo, con misura ma prendendosi la loro parte di scena.

Una formazione matura e interessante, che meriterebbe maggiore attenzione da parte dei critici e, soprattutto, degli organizzatori di festival e concerti.
