Bill Doerrfeld: A Passing Moment

Bill Doerrfeld, nato a Chicago nel 1964, inizia a suonare il pianoforte a 4 anni. A tredici anni viene invitato dalla Yamaha a suonare concerti di piano solo in Giappone. Ottiene poi importanti riconoscimenti (per esempio il premio della rivista Downbeat a soli 16 anni) e prosegue nella sua carriera di pianista abile sia sul versante jazzistico che su quello classico, ambito nel quale si è cimentato anche a fianco di importanti formazioni orchestrali.

Questo A Passing Moment ci consente di ascoltarlo in 10 brani originali scritti da lui stesso (gli spartiti sono disponibili per l'acquisto sul sito) che lo vedono affrontare uno scenario che si situa nel bel mezzo della strada maestra della musica moderna per pianoforte, solidamente inserita nella tradizione jazzistica. Una sorta di Keith Jarrett minore, se il paragone non suona irriverente. Capace di usare molto bene le dinamiche e le possibilità di allargare le sezioni fuori tempo, proprio perchè ci si muove in solo.

Un bel recital di pianoforte, dedicato agli appassionati dello strumento.
