This podcast is part one of a conversation with drummer Doug Sides and features some of his favourite artists and their music. The musicians include Duke Ellington & His Orchestra, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk and Acud plays Wayne Shorter. Doug is originally from Los Angeles and has lived and worked in New York, Paris and Amsterdam. He has toured and/or worked with Johnny Griffin, Benny Golson, Abbey Lincoln, Herbie Hancock, Bobby Hutcherson, Hank Jones, O C Smith, and Kenny Barron. He currently lives in Kent where he is a major contributor to the jazz scene and has recently performed with tenor saxophonist Ian East, and bassist Stephen Bridgland as part of the Ian East Trio. Doug is also a regular participant at the jazz jam led by drummer, percussionist and keyboardist Simon Treadwell at the Lifeboat, Margate, Kent, United Kingdom. Other regulars include Ian East, Paul Booth and RJ Gilbert.Tags
