John Lindberg Raptor Trio: Western Edges
È possibile che anche per questo le relative matrici siano rimaste in stand-by per oltre quattro anni, o che i motivi siano tutt'altri; sta di fatto che non indicheremmo certo Western Edges fra gli indispensabili del cinquantasettenne bassista (ex-enfant prodige) nativo del Michigan. Vi ritroviamo soluzioni di una sostanziale tranquillità (nelle varie accezioni: climatica, ma anche proprio etico-programmatica, stante il quoziente-rischio decisamente limitato, e conseguentemente emozionale) che sanno accendere la miccia in momenti sparsi, tipo il quarto brano, "Raptors," e l'ultimo, "At Home," oltre a segmenti disseminati qua e là (in "Rumble Paint," per esempio).
Nulla di trascendentale, quindi: un disco onestissimo che forse abbiamo affrontato da un'angolazione persino ipercritica proprio alla luce dell'alta considerazione in cui teniamo il suo principale artefice.
