Treperquattropiuuno: Vintage

Il progetto Treperquattro va avanti da alcuni anni. Per questo loro terzo album, Vintage, l'organico si allarga con l'arrivo del trombonista svizzero Danilo Moccia. La scelta di lasciare fuori uno strumento armonico può fare pensare a formazioni famose quali quelle pianoless di Gerry Mulligan o di Ornette Coleman. Il gruppo italiano si tiene lontano da queste esperienze storiche ed ha invece un modo tutto suo di affrontare i temi scritti da Luca Segala e Beppe Aliprandi o dai compositori del mondo accademico. Invece che sulla musica afroamericana l'attenzione e la scrittura si focalizzano sull'Europa e sui suoi compositori classici. Non solo perchè si sono scelti due composizioni di Rachmaninoff e Darius Milhaud, ma per il tipo di temi che scrivono i due leader - "Il Meloblasta" o "Italian Yogurt" ne sono un esempio.

La ritmica sposta il discorso verso l'improvvisazione ed il jazz, un pò di swing che magari dà dei sapori esotici a chi apprezza di solito le evoluzioni dei virtuosi della classica. La musica del gruppo può piacere o meno, ma non le si può negare una ricerca ed un impegno originali, un'evoluzione interna che l'ha portata in tre incisioni dalla musica dei Corali a quella di Milhaud.
