Loro sono una delle formazioni australiane jazz che maggiormente si sta facendo notare a livello mondiale, lui uno dei chitarristi più quotati e che insieme a dischi registrati con Joe LovanoEsperanza SpaldingKenny Barron, sta dando vita a una entusiasmante serie di raffinatissimi album solisti. The Vampiers Meet Loueke celebra l'incontro fra lo strumentista nato in Benin e la band con dieci composizioni che raccontano di una felicissima intesa frequentemente a cavallo fra jazz ed etno.

I sapori dell'album si muovono lungo linee geografiche ampie, compiendosi in una lunga scorribanda jazz capace di riflettere e giocare con molteplici influenze. Aperto da una malinconica e meditabonda chitarra in "Endings and Beginnings Pt.1," l'album cambia velocemente passo con "Hard Love," interamente giocato su un fraseggio cantato all'unisono da contrabbasso, clarinetto e voce. "Freedom Song" cambia registro abbracciando senza remore ritmiche reggae sulle quali da un lato i fiati, dall'altro la chitarra disegnano atmosfere di segno opposto. Le trame finissime delle corde di nylon di Loueke vengono esaltate in "Green Green Greeen," mentre "Bendalong" rivela la familiarità della formazione con la musica giamaicana.

La seconda parte dell'album prende il via con la vena soul di "Torta Salada," la Babele sonora di "Suck A Seed" e con la riflessiva "Ubud Bubble." A struttura circolare, l'album di chiude con la seconda parte di "Endings and Beginnings." Una energetica collezione di brani capaci di guardare lontano.
