Take Five With Marcus Goldhaber

Meet Marcus Goldhaber: Marcus was born in Buffalo, NY and moved to NYC directly after graduating with a BFA in Musical Theatre from SUNY Fredonia. He spent five years working off-Broadway and regionally before switching his focus and releasing his debut record, The Moment After, in September of 2006. In the past two years he has played the Iridium Jazz Club (w/Les Paul), Enzo's, The Friars Club, The Hotel Benjamin, The Carnegie Club, The Ritz Carlton, Manhattan Lounge, and given concerts at The Worldwide Plaza and AOL's Time Warner Center. Since his debut release, Marcus has received regular airplay across the country including by Jonathan Schwartz (WNYC) and was a three-star "Pick" in People Magazine (Nov. 6th, 2006).

I knew I wanted to be a musician when... I decided to let myself be just that.

Your sound and approach to music: Tell the story.

Your teaching approach: Tell the story.

Your dream band: It would have been quite a thrill to sing with Peggy Lee or Rosemary Clooney.

Favorite venue: Iridium Jazz Club.

Your favorite recording in your discography and why? The Moment After. It's simply better than all the other ones that I haven't recorded yet.

What do you think is the most important thing you are contributing musically? A fresh, simple approach to the story of a song.

Did you know... When I was a boy, I broke more windows playing tennis and hockey against the garage door than any other kid in my neighborhood.

How you use the internet to help your career? I send out a regular newsletter with updates, I have my CD available on iTunes, CDBaby, Myspace and on my website, which I update on a daily basis (photos, gigs, sound clips, etc.). I also make use of services provided by All About Jazz, Sonicbids and Jazzsingers.com.
