Take Five With Julia Westbrook

Meet Julia Westbrook: I am a Musical Theatre and Drama student at Cumbria Institute of the Arts, Carlisle, England. Jazz has always been my main influence, I'm crazy about Frank Sinatra and absolutely love the new sensation Jamie Cullum, who covers jazz classics and makes them his own!

Teachers and/or influences? Influences most certainly are Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Ella Fitzgerald.

I knew I wanted to be a musician when... ...I was growing up, my family always had jazz on the radio and I found myself singing along, then realized I wanted to pursue this line of music.

Favorite venue: So far I am quite new to performing with a jazz band, as all the singing I have done in the past was at festivals, singing Musical Theatre-based songs. It is only recently that I have had the honor of performing with an accomplished jazz band.

What is in the near future? Well, so far I have recorded my demo but am desperate to continue recording and hopefully meet good influences along the way!
