Dawan Muhammad qualifies as a unique kind of renaissance man. For Hereafter he plays woodwinds and flutes, is composer, arranger, conceptualizer, and label manager. But the reality is so much broader than that. He is a community activist and non-profit entrepreneur, as much concerned for the mental and cultural health of Bay Area communities, and propagation of this unique art form we call jazz, as he is about his own musical development. He gives back to the community in a variety of different, well-chronicled ways; he gives back to the music in this instance with Hereafter. Dawan¹s primary vehicle, LifeForcejazz, is not only the imprimatur of this recording, it is also a means of bringing arts and culture to various Bay Area communities, through a variety of after-school and weekend programs for youngsters and young adults. Marco Colonna

Born: December 21, 1978

Active for nearly twenty years in the most varied musical environments studied with Piero Quarta and Gaetano Zocconali, attended the Conservatory of Frosinone and attended seminars with Alfredo impulliti and Achille Succi.

He specializes in performing contemporary music with Maestro Harry Sparnaay.

He composed music for theater, film and documentaries in collaboration with Rai Trade and with the companies Mediterranean Centre of the Arts, Artes, Small Brancaccio, L'Orologio.

Dedicatee of many works for bass clarinet and contrabass clarinet solo by composers such as Giorgio Colombo Taccani, Dan Di Maggio, Sofia Mikaelyan, Shigeru Kan No.

Alex Coke

Born: November 13, 1953

Alex Coke 
is a Texas tenor saxophonist, flutist, and composer 
based in Austin, Texas and Amsterdam, Netherlands.



An improvisor at heart, his multifarious projects as bandleader include 
Live Action Brass Band, Leadbelly Legacy Band, New
 Texas Swing, a jazz adaptation of Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas In Wales, and the post-bop quintet, Worthy Constituents, a collaboration with longtime partner, pianist, and composer, Rich Harney.

In 2022, along with guitarist Carl Michel, Coke began writing for, performing and recording with the Alex Coke & Carl Michel Sextet, an outgrowth of a series of driveway concerts he and harpist Elaine Barber began hosting in 2020. The sextet has recorded 3 albums to date on the PlayOn records label The Emissary, Emergence and Situation.

Michael Cooke

Born: April 21, 1970

The multi-instrumentalist Michael Cooke is a composer of Jazz and Classical music. This two time Emmy and Louis Armstrong Jazz Award winner plays a variety of instruments, you will hear him play soprano, alto & tenor sax, flute, soprano & bass clarinet, bassoon and percussion. Michael started playing jazz in High school where he played for homeless shelters in Atlanta. A cum laude music graduate University of North Texas, Michael has played in Europe, Mexico and all over the United States. After relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area, he has been exploring new styles and has been studying Larry Ochs “Radar” composition techniques

Miro Kadoic

Born: July 8, 1962

Miro Kadoić was born in Zagreb. He graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Music in 1986. He received several awards and prizes at various classical music competitions (i.e. First Federal Prize in the Clarinet Category in 1980; etc.) as well as the scholarship of the Musical Youth for Young Jazz Talents in 1982, etc. It the 1980s he started playing with blues bands (Podroom Blues Band) and cooperating with pop-rock musicians (Massimo Savić, Parni Valjak, Voodoobuddha, etc.). At the same time he started playing in jazz combos. He visited New York on several occasions where he studied under the mentorship of Reggie Workman and Blue Lou Marini (Blues Brothers Band)

Aaron Gratzmiller

Aaron Gratzmiller is a saxophonist, arranger, and private instructor based in Boston, MA. His energetic playing and stylistic versatility has helped him become one of the most active performers in New England, sharing the stage with notable artists such as Kurt Elling, Antonio Hart, Robert Villera, and Matt Savage among others. Aaron also teaches private lessons at Cambridge Arts Academy (Somerville, MA) and North Main Music (Nashua, NH), and is Director of Arts and Education for the New England Jazz Enrichment Foundation. His current project as a co- leader, the Pearcy/ Gratzmiller Jazz Quintet, presents the tradition of Hard Bop Jazz from the perspective of a younger generation of musicians
