Natalie Cole

Born: February 6, 1950

When singer Natalie Cole was in college at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, she performed weekends at nightclubs. Prior to one show, a small club displayed a sign that announced her only as Nat "King" Cole's daughter. She was so angry that she scolded the manager of the club; however, 20 years later, Cole reached the pinnacle of her success by "teaming up" with her late father in an album called Unforgettable With Love. The album earned seven Grammy awards and stayed on the pop charts for several weeks. For Natalie, it was a special tribute to her legendary father who died of lung cancer when she was only 15. Natalie is one of five children born to the famous singer Nat King Cole and his wife Maria

Michelle Amador

Born: September 4, 1975

Michelle Amador is a jazz and electronic vocalist/composer, who has contributed to more than 100 original works in her career. Born in Santa Clara, CA, to Peruvian composer/pianist, Augusto A. Amador and Austrian mother Margaret Amador, she was trained in classical piano from age 6-16 and wrote her first composition at the age of 12. She studied choral voice and acting through high school, performing in musicals and when called on, accompanying the vocal choir. She attended the University of Southern California to pursue a BFA in acting. “It’s strange. Music has always been an integral part of my life growing up, to the extent that it did not occur to me to make a career as a vocalist/composer until I began writing and performing music for theater productions: Woyzeck, Antigone, and Vinegar Tom.” says Michelle. Kimberly Elderkin

Born: November 8, 1967

Kimberly Elderkin is a vocalist who has performed as a soloist at church and in the community based, Christian rock band, His Vessel. Performing for youth revivals, community events in local parks and civic centers, charitable events and church special functions. Kimberly's background includes choirs, Minister of Music/Praise leader for a small inter-denominational church in the late 80's and early 90's. While obviously, her background has been focused in the Christian genre, Kimberly's vocals draw from folk and the pop era reminiscent of Carol King, James Taylor and the like. Having been lulled to sleep by her singing-guitar playing hippie mother, the sounds of the 60's and 70's resonate in her voice and style while ol' rockers, the likes of Pat Benatar helped develop her vocal range and "singing chops"! While Kimberly has focused on her bill paying career of registered nurse for the last 15 years, she is looking for opportunities to explore her love of music and singing now that she has entered the "empty nester" years and still counts herself in her youth! As jazz has always been a favorite listening pleasure, she hopes to explore the dynamic vocal opportunities of this genre.

Rachael Price

Born: August 30, 1985

Twenty-three year old jazz vocalist Rachael Price has amassed an impressive resume for her age. With the September 2008 release her new recording “The Good Hours," Price mused on the whirlwind ride of the last five years. “It's been amazing” touring the U.S. with my trio, singing with the T.S. Monk Sextet, international jazz festivals in Brazil and Panama, recording three CD's” all while completing a degree in Jazz Studies at the New England Conservatory.” Born in Australia and raised in Nashville, Price admits she “has been singing jazz since a small child.” She recalls “jazz hit an inner chord with me at the age of five

Earl Okin

Born: January 31, 1947

Earl Okin is one of the world’s finest Jazz singers.

In addition, he is probably the finest performer of Bossa Nova outside of Brazil.

Though occasionally performing with a trio, he normally performs solo, accompanying himself at the guitar or piano as most appropriate for the song.

Last but not least, he’s renowned for his legendary ‘vocal trumpet’ solos.

Based in London, Earl has given concerts around the world in theatres, clubs and festivals, and regularly performs at London’s premier Jazz Club, Ronnie Scott’s and cabaret and concert venues such as Les Crazy Coqs and the Royal Albert Hall.

Franca Masu

Born: May 23, 1962

The prime representative of the Catalan-rooted culture of Alghero, a fisherman’s village in northern Sardinia, the singer Franca Masu breathes and transmits an artistic spirit filled by both land and sea, as well as a progressive mentality deeply anchored in the ancient traditions of the millennium-old cultures of the Mediterranean. Alghero has always been the region of Sardinia with the most exposure to the outside world, constantly searching for new contacts and exchanges with the Spanish and Portuguese coasts of the western Mediterranean arch. The Staines/Tanzi Duo

Born: June 6, 1972

The Staines/Tanzi duo are a jazz duo featuring Oliver J. Staines (guitar) and Cris Tanzi (vocals). Having both worked as professional musicians for over ten years in a variety of settings and genres they have come together to blend their individual voices into something new in the creative space of the duo setting. You can catch the duo doing gigs in their own right or otherwise being hired to provide a rich setting for private or corporate events. They primarily perform the American Songbook and latin jazz standards but their entertaining performances often also feature treatments of more contemporary and popular pieces

Angie Whitney

ANGIE WHITNEY- AN INSPIRING STORY: Let’s take a trip back to the future and twist and shout into the 60’s and catapult ourselves into the early 70’s when Motown was king and girl groups like Diana Ross and The Supremes and The Ronettes ruled the charts. Angie Whitney was an aspiring singer living in Los Angeles with her twin sister, Rachel and her cousin, Yvonne. The twins had been singing together since they were 4 years old. Angie was shy but loved to get up and sing in front of people. Angie, her twin sister and her cousin started singing back-up for The Spinners who charted 5- Top 100 singles and 2- Top 10 hits

Orla Murphy

Orla Murphy has been performing on the London jazz scene for the last few years and has performed in many notable music venues throughout the city, such as: The National Portrait Gallery, The Spice of Life, The National Theatre and The Octave. She has worked and recorded with many of London's leading jazz musicians such as: Simon Wallace, Jonathan Gee, Barry Green, Julie Walkington, Amy Baldwin, and Winston Clifford, to name a few. She has also performed throughout the UK, in Italy, Ireland and Scotland, with memorable performances at the Derry Jazz & Big Band Festival in Northern Ireland (May '07), the Glasgow International Jazz Festival (June '07) and Swansea Jazzland, Wales (July '07 & May '08).
