Mads Tolling
Born:
"There is a generation of young string players who have come up with equal regard for the Bach Cello Suites and Jimi Hendrix’s Are You Experienced, for Beethoven’s String Quartets and the Mahavishnu Orchestra’s Inner Mounting Flame. They dig Dvorak, Debussy and Ravel but also have committed to memory John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme and Led Zeppelin IV. "Violinist-composer-arranger Mads Tolling is definitely in that number. As a longstanding member for the last six years of both the fearless, genre-hopping Turtle Island Quartet and also bassist extraordinaire Stanley Clarke’s band, he is quite accustomed to shattering boundaries and pushing the envelope while dealing in the longstanding tradition of musical cross-fertilization (aka ‘fusion’)

Alex Yellowlees
Born:
Thanks you for taking the time to read my profile. Making music has been one of the great joys and journeys of my life - from Classical to Celtic to Bluegrass and finally into the world of Jazz. I have always loved the melodic sound of violin, guitars and double bass since my father took me a concert of the great French jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli when I was 12 years old and my journey began. Combine lovely melodies with improvisational opportunity and I am in heaven! It is my privilege to perform with three wonderful virtuostic musicians and it is always a pleasure sharing the stage with them. Hopefully we will have the chance to see you at one of our concerts soon. Very best wishes Alex Yellowlees.
