His vision was clear: Tim Quick wanted to reintroduce Jazz and its culture to a younger generation who could take it into the next era, and give Jazz Fans around the world a new way to enjoy it. As the young manager of his father’s Supper Club, The Main Event Bar & Lounge in Los Angeles, he was given the flexibility to run things the way he desired. He was taught all aspects of running a club, and how to anticipate the needs of the audience so that they enjoyed their evening. He later dropped his managerial role to become the primary booking and entertainment promoter for The Main Event. This is where it all started

New Orleans Helsinki Connection

New Orleans Helsinki Connection is a group of New Orleans and Helsinki based musicians that play traditional New Orleans jazz with a youthful 21st century touch. Its members represent the very best of this style in their homelands and have been playing together in various bands for years.
In the summer of 2002, a long time dream of a joint band finally became reality. The band had a successful three-week tour in Finland. In the fall of 2003, New Orleans Helsinki Connection headed in to the studio, and the new, aptly titled CD "At Last" came out in April 2004.
Since then, the NOHC has been often heard on the WWOZ jazz station (also live from Satchmo Fest 2008) and the CD is available again after being out of print for some time. In August 2004, the NOHC performed very successfully at Sildajazz Festival in Haugesund, Norway, at Lahden Jazztori Festival in Lahti, Finland and at Storyville Jazz Club in Helsinki, Finland. The band has been seen in New Orleans for example at the French Quarter Festival (2005-2007), Satchmo Fest (2008), Columns Hotel, National Historical Park, and at Donna's Bar & Grill.

Spirit Of New Orleans

Helsinki based Spirit Of New Orleans a.k.a. SONO was founded in the fall of 2001. The band's goal is to play New Orleans jazz as it is played in jazz's birthplace today. The music scene in New Orleans is still very vibrant - even after Katrina - and the city has numerous jazz bands playing in different styles. These bands like the Leroy Jones Quintet, Kermit Ruffins & The Barbecue Swingers, Bob French's Original Tuxedo Jazz Band and others are the inspiration for SONO. The aim is to play hip, funky, hard-swinging, yet traditional jazz that will get the people dancing and feeling good - not forgetting the artistic standards. During its first years Spirit Of New Orleans has been working with Leroy Jones, one of New Orleans' finest trumpeters, with the very fine vocalists Tricia Boutté and Yolanda Windsay from New Orleans and Miriam Aïda from Sweden, and with Finnish singers Eeppi Ursin and Susanna Mesiä
