Recently voted "Best Latin Jazz Trumpet Player of 2009" (Latin Jazz Corner), young lion Jonathan Powell can not so easily be defined. Sharing the stage and recording studio with such world renown musicians and artists like JT Taylor (Kool & the Gang), La Excelencia, Sam Rivers, The Pedro Giraudo Jazz Orchestra, Q-Tip, Andy Milne, Gary Thomas, Lenny White, Reggie Workman, MK Groove Orchestra, Just Blaze, CL Smooth, Slick Rick and Snoop Dogg, his attention to detail has earned him respect in diverse musical communities. Mike Price
Born:
Living in Tokyo for more than twenty years still comes as a surprise for trumpet player, composer and band director Mike Price. He often says " My original plan was to come here for six months to a year, or maybe a year and a half, if I'm lucky!" He did not anticipate that Tokyo's jazz fans and the music business would keep him busy this long ! Originally, arriving on an artist exchange program cosponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the U.S./Japan Friendship Commission, artistic projects involving the use of Japanese instruments in a jazz setting occupied most of the first year and a half

With such a rich musical background in which to grow up, Michel took to the trumpet at age 9 and began his quest for enlightenment and fulfillment through the art of song. Studied in Jazz, Afro Cuban, Brazllian, Classical, and Composition, Michel Navedo's focus on his instrument lies in song craft and improvisation. Look forward to an incredible Jazz release this year from Michel, "New Orleans On My Mind". Bringing a heart felt and lyrical approach to some smoky originals, the album's sultry southern swing is both elegant and eloquent
